Official website: https://sites.google.com:443/a/amalietermannsen.com/amalie-termannsen/ Currently studying at Elam School of Fine Arts as an undergraduate in honours programme, exploring ideas that revolve around political/social concepts, aesthetics, family values, immigration, microscopic universes in molecular forms, Scandinavian perspectives and explorations of daily nothings in relation to me. Having grown up in Denmark, these background issues come back in my work and often draw from previous experiences, values and beliefs, in contrast to living in New Zealand now. I like concepts to be highlighted in this way, for my work not to be esoteric to an audience. Mediums of interest include painting, drawing, printing, photography, collage and illustration. I have worked as the predominant illustrator and cover artist for Flute Focus magazine since 2004. Work has been included in various exhibitions and group shows at the likes of Auckland Art Gallery and was recently a finalist for the 2009 Henrietta and Lola Anne Tunbridge Scholarship at the George Fraser Gallery.

I am a ceramic artist, who graduated from Northland Polytech in 2005. For the past two and a half years I Have worked out of Kaeo in the far north, producing hundreds and hundreds of (almost only) small Earthenware dishes, glazed and decorated with various subject matter. My works are often grouped together to create a finished piece. I am represented by Masterworks Gallery in Auckland, AVID Gallery in Wellington, and Omaha Gallery in Omaha. I am just about to embark on a trip to Germany where I will live and work for at least a year. I plan to develop a body of work there for a solo show at AVID gallery in Wellington next year.

Askew
Added Tuesday 6 May 2008
Askew is a major proponent of Auckland City's dedicated Mid-school generation of writers, an era of artists that kept consistent despite lack of guidance from the local pioneers and have maintained an edge amongst the influx of incredible new-school talent. Born in 1979 in the small north island city Palmerston North, Askew moved north to New Zealand's biggest city in 1984 into the heart of the first Hip Hop explosion. It was a fortunate situation and shaped him and his fascination with the inner city aesthetic, which has manifested itself through writing, design, photography, music and any other creative medium he choses to explore. He is a key member of the TMD crew and also represents the world famous Stick Up Kids. Currently he is exploring many new facets of his work and planning to establish himself long term as a formidable force internationally. Dreams are free though!

I'm originally from Germany and have done a lot of things in my life. I came to NZ in 1995 and didnt have much to do with art then. Worked and lived for 4 years in Otahuhu and spend most of my day spannering professionally Harley-Davidson's for the gangs and race bikes for crazy kiwis. All very interesting and in hindsight inspiring. Went to East Germany in 2000 and studied art and design at a university in Halle/ Saale, closely connected to the Bauhaus philosophy. Did a conceptual Masterpiece about "the activity of human beings as an energy resource". Further down the line I worked and lived in Tokyo and Berlin. I came across Pecha Kucha Nights 2004 in Tokyo and started this in Berlin as the first German city. I decided to come back to NZ in 2007 with my partner, after the birth of our son. In 2007 nobody had setup a Pecha Kucha Night in New Zealand so I thought it's time to start this here, too. Now Auckland and Wellington are well set up, Christchurch is just starting and Hamilton will come. I like Pecha Kucha because I don't have to comment on things. Pecha Kucha just brings up the potential that’s already there and lets things speak for themselves. Pecha Kucha is about content and reflects quite well what's happening in those cities.
